  33.                                    SLIDE SHOW
  34.  
  35.         SLIDE  SHOW  is  a  demonstration program that  shows  a  set  of 
  36.         pictures.   These  pictures  were generated using the Icon  Color 
  37.         Graphics  System.   The program is designed to run on the IBM  PC 
  38.         (or true compatibles) with either a standard color graphics  card 
  39.         or  a  IBM  compatible color card.   You can use  either  an  RGB 
  40.         monitor  or a TV for display.   The program will also run on a PC 
  41.         jr.    Note:   the  program will not run on a system that uses  a 
  42.         monochrome card.

  44.         TO RUN THE PROGRAM:   Type SSDEMO and press the ENTER  key.   You 
  45.         will then be asked whether you are using an RGB monitor.   If you 
  46.         are using a TV with an RF converter or a composite monitor, enter 
  47.         N  or  NO.  The  program will proceed to display a set  of  color 
  48.         graphics pictures.   To leave the program, press ESC and you will 
  49.         be returned to DOS.

  51.         FEATURES:   SLIDE  SHOW  illustrates the use of  an  undocumented 
  52.         color  graphics  mode  which,  together  with  certain  routines, 
  53.         signifcantly  enhances the color graphics capability of  the  IBM 
  54.         PC.

  73.                       DEMO ICON: QUEST FOR THE RING PROGRAM

  76.         The  Demo runs on the IBM PC (or true compatibles) with either  a 
  77.         standard color graphics card or a IBM compatible color card.  You 
  78.         can  use either an RGB monitor or a TV for display.   The program 
  79.         will also run on a PC jr.    Note:  the program will not run on a 
  80.         system that uses a monochrome card.

  82.         The  Demo  ICON  program is a very abbreviated  fragment  of  the 
  83.         adventure  ICON:  QUEST  FOR THE RING.   The demo lacks  a  large 
  84.         number of features contained in the actual adventure.  The number 
  85.         and  variety  of  creatures and  characters  have  been  severely 
  86.         limited;   the playing area has been reduced;   there is only one 
  87.         level;   only  a  single normal sword is available as  a  weapon; 
  88.         there are no treasures;  the entire cosmic plot has been removed; 
  89.         animated  plot  scenes have been ommitted;    story  screens  are 
  90.         absent;  etc.   Despite  these  omissions,  the fragment  remains 
  91.         playable  as a an arcade style combat game.   For information  on 
  92.         how to get a copy of the actual ICON: QUEST FOR THE RING, see the 
  93.         end of this file.

  95.         RUNNING THE ICON DEMO.  To start the game, type in ICONDEMO after 
  96.         the DOS prompt.   Then press the ENTER key.  Several introductory 
  97.         screens will appear.   Press the SPACE BAR to move through  these 
  98.         screens.  Once you are in the game proper press the F1 key to get 
  99.         to  the  HELP screen.   Note:  if you have a joy stick,  you  can 
  100.         enable the joystick by pressing the J key and then following  the 
  101.         instructions  that  appear  on the  screen.   Pressing  ESC  will 
  102.         terminate the game.
